As per ayurvedic textual reference, pippali is better for vitiated vata, kapha of the body and is hot, pungent in quality. From ancient time pippali powder, when taken with honey, is found helpful for removing extra phlegm, mitigate cough and cold, sore throat and hiccups. Ayurveda also mentions utility of pippali powder with jaggery (twice in quantity) - helpful in loss of appetite, indigestion, chronic fever, anaemic conditions and intestinal worms. Various basic formulations are made using pippali as it is considered an important ingredient in ayurveda, which is used in stomach problems like flatulency, colic, indigestion, fullness etc.

Instructions for use:
External

• For joint pains – Soak 2tsp pippali powder in boiled sesame oil for 12 hrs, filter and decant the oil, store oil in an amber coloured bottle

• Apply this oil on affected Joints and gentle massage, then hot fomentation

Internal:1 tsp powder with 1tsp liquorice powder and 2-3 tsp honey after food.
